Transform Employee Training With ThingLink XR on Meta Quest

Jonathan Hull

ThingLink, a leading platform for creating immersive learning content, is excited to announce its new XR application for Meta Quest headsets. This powerful solution, combined with the recently launched AI-assisted ThingLink Scenario Builder and customizable landing pages, enables organizations to create and share mixed-reality learning experiences seamlessly across platforms.

The Challenge of Traditional Training Methods

Organizations have long struggled to replicate complex, real-world training scenarios using traditional methods. Employees often find it difficult to retain skills presented in static formats, leading to a lack of confidence in live work environments.

ThingLink XR for Meta Quest 3, 3s, Quest Pro, and Oculus Quest 2 solves this problem by delivering fully immersive, life-like simulations of real-world situations. This cutting-edge application empowers employees to engage in high-stakes scenarios, such as operating machinery, safety protocols, or customer service training, all within a controlled and repeatable environment.

Transforming Learning Through Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality

ThingLink XR allows users to effortlessly share immersive content via customizable landing pages, complete with dynamic playlists that work seamlessly on multiple devices. This includes viewing on Meta Quest headsets, as well as desktops and mobile devices.

On newer Quest headsets like the 3 and 3s, we are also introducing pass-through capabilities that enable users to blend real-world environments with digital content, creating augmented reality experiences for enhanced learning. Furthermore, support for 3D models expands the range of training possibilities, allowing organizations to incorporate detailed, interactive objects into their scenarios. In future updates planned for 2025, ThingLink XR will introduce offline viewing and localization.

Enhancing Flexibility with Cross-Platform Compatibility

ThingLink XR is designed to be accessible on various devices, including Meta Quest 3 and 3s headsets, desktop, mobile phones, and even physical immersive meeting setups. This flexibility ensures organizations can start using immersive training content without the need to immediately invest in expensive XR headsets. Additionally, users can fully customize their organization’s landing pages in the Meta Quest interface, adding logos, headers, and other branded elements.

“The great thing about ThingLink’s VR content is that it doesn’t HAVE to be viewed through a VR headset. Users can still access this immersive content via desktop or mobile devices.”

– Steve Clark, Technical Trainer at Mitsubishi Electric UK

Practical Applications: From Onboarding to Skill Mastery

ThingLink XR offers an array of possibilities for organizations to optimize training workflows:

  • Hands-on Simulations: Easily create training scenarios using your own facilities and view them on Meta Quest 2, Quest Pro, Quest 3, and Quest 3s devices.
  • Immersive Onboarding: Provide new hires with self-paced, engaging onboarding experiences.
  • Scalable Training: Use mobile, desktop, and XR headsets simultaneously to deliver the same learning content across various devices.
  • Customization & Personalization: Utilize hand tracking, avatars, and real-time interactions to create fully immersive environments tailored to specific training needs.

Cost-Efficient Scaling and Measurable Impact

By utilizing ThingLink XR on Meta Quest, organizations can drastically cut logistical costs by eliminating the need for physical training spaces. This makes it easier and more affordable to deploy high-quality training across multiple locations.

ThingLink’s immersive learning toolkit supports a range of XR devices and plugins, allowing organizations to leverage virtual reality and extended reality technologies without extensive development costs.
